Reading Dialogue Journals August 29, 2008

mrsjhopkins @ 7:32 pm

September 12th 2008- RDJ 2 is DUE! Core 3, you are writing to Mrs. Hopkins this week!

Today, in class, we talked about how to construct entries in our Reading Dialogue Journals. I strongly suggest that you start thinking about and drafting this first entry over the long weekend. If you do so, you can get some useful feedback from me before it is due on Friday. As you write your first entry, think about the student examples you looked at in class today. The examples were not book summaries. Remember these tips as you begin writing your very first RDJ entry:

  • You are writing your entry as a letter to a peer in your core class. Make sure you are writing to someone in the class.
  • You are NOT WRITING A BOOK SUMMARY.
  • You can write this entry on any book you are currently reading.
  • Refer to your RDJ Intro letter that I distributed in class today for ideas on what to write about.
  • Your RDJ entry must be at least one page in length (NOT SKIPPING LINES)

Post any questions you have about the Reading Dialogue Journals here. I can’t wait to read your RDJ entries and begin talking about books with you all!

Have an excellent LABOR DAY weekend!

:-) Mrs. Hopkins

    Hannah,
I think it would be great if you wrote a poem for your one hour writing assignment this week. Remember, you are wrting to your peers in your Reading Dialogue Journals, which is always about the book you are currently reading. :-)
