It is coming along wonderfully! If you get writer's block, just walk away and try not to force something on paper just because you feel like you need to. This is why it takes some really great writers YEARS to write a novel. When you arent thinking about it and stressing about it, you will be surprised how much better your ideas will be. I also like to carry around a small notebook with me everywhere I go. This should be small enough to go in your pocket. If you are out and about and you get a thought, write it down right at that moment so you have something to go off of when you get home and start to write again. If you don't have it and you get an idea, write it somewhere! The best writers will tell you this is something they always do. When you have a lot going on, it is sometimes hard to control what is dumped into your memory and what you will completely forget. Also, you mentioned the pace of your book. Remember our lessons on "Make a Movie Behind your Eyelids?" This is exactly what I meant by that. Think about all of the movies you have seen. The minor parts of the movie take a few minutes or maybe even seconds and the more important parts might take thirty minutes to get through the same amount of physical time. You have to know when it is an important part of the book and slow down your pace and really put it in the action that your reader can see and hear. I know it feels cheesy, but it really does help to close your eyes and visualize the scene in your head. Which parts could you SEE happening? Which parts took longer than the others? PLease take it from someone who lost her entire geneology project in college that she had worked on for months because of a faulty disk....SAVE AS MANY PLACES AS POSSIBLE!!! As a matter of fact, print every now and then so you even have hard copies available.
